Former President Donald Trump has stirred up the media and become an international person of interest. Most people either love him or hate him. With the whole world watching the U.S. presidential election, here are five reasons to vote for Trump on Nov. 5, even if he’s not perfect.
Economy
Under Trump’s administration the U.S. unemployment rate dropped to 3.5% just before the pandemic, the lowest in 50 years. Although unemployment hit a record high during the pandemic, the country was well on its way to recovery when he left office. Unemployment rates were decreasing, which shows the effectiveness of his administration’s efforts to revive the economy.. Wages also went up 7.1% in his four years, according to Texas A&M University Private Enterprise Research Center, and are down since then. Tax cuts also helped increase the quality of life for everyone. When people take home more money in their paychecks they spend more money and put it right back into the economy which in turn supports other Americans.
Immigration
Trump said he wants to reform the immigration system. He has said that he thinks international students who graduate from a U.S. college should be granted green cards. This will keep skilled workers in the country who are contributing. Elon Musk supports this too. He wants to keep people who benefit society. Keeping skilled people in the country will boost innovation and keep the U.S. on top of technology and other industries. Trump said he also wants to complete the border wall to secure our borders and enforce a legal entrance for immigration.
Energy Independence
During his term the U.S. experienced a state of net energy export (exporting more than importing). He promoted domestic energy production so we were not reliant on foreign countries for energy. That is not only a plus for the economy, but a huge national security win. Gas prices were down to $1.84 in April 2020 as a weekly national average. Under the current administration they shot up to $5.06 in June 2022, according to the U.S. Energy Administration. The weekly averages have since settled around $3.26 as a national average in October. Some economists say the war in Ukraine has contributed to these higher prices because the U.S. is supporting them financially. People today are spending more than twice as much on gas as they were four years ago. Another benefit of lower gas prices is lower cost of goods that are shipped including food and everything you purchase in a store or online, which is next level.
Safety and Crime Rates
According to the FBI, crime has increased 4.5% under the current administration from 2021 to 2022 alone. That’s an extra “1,699 murders; 7,780 rapes; 33,459 robberies and 37,091 aggravated assaults in a single year” according MSN. Although the numbers dropped some last year, according to the FBI this still raises concerns about public safety. Trump supporters say his firm stance on law and order will address these issues more effectively. His administration prioritized funding for law enforcement and sought to implement policies aimed at reducing crime rates, thereby enhancing the safety of communities nationwide.
Different Kind of Leader
One of the most distinguishing aspects of Trump is that he is not a career politician. Before entering politics, by all appearances he was a successful businessman with the freedom to live however he wanted for the rest of his life. Choosing to serve as president represented what he said was a significant personal sacrifice, including a reduction in his quality of life and public scrutiny unlike any he’d faced before. He pledged to donate his presidential salary of $400,000 annually, reflecting a commitment to public service over personal gain.
Final Thoughts
Do your own research. Do not believe everything you hear and see. Do not just vote down party lines. Do real thinking. Ask good questions. The world is counting on smart voters.
