I’m voting for Kamala Harris because of her policy agenda and political attitude. Harris’s policies address major issues facing Americans today, and I believe her repeated commitment to inclusivity, bipartisan cooperation, and women’s rights is vital to moving America forward.
She reaches across the aisle
Throughout her career, Harris has emphasized the value of a “healthy two-party system” by engaging in cross-party dialogue to tackle national issues such as the Criminal Justice Reform in 2018, and Support of Veterans’ Mental Health in 2019. Her recent pledge to include a bipartisan advisory group and potentially even Republicans in her Cabinet demonstrates her dedication to fostering political and social cooperation. America needs a leader committed to defusing the volatile polarization that is permeating through our society. Harris’s view of politics recognizes that effective solutions benefit from diverse perspectives and unified effort.
On policy, Harris’s platform is inclusive and future-oriented, focusing on accessible healthcare, climate action, education reform, a bipartisan border security bill, and economic support for middle- and working-class Americans.
Her healthcare agenda
Harris’s healthcare agenda involves expanding caps on out-of-pocket expenses for prescription drugs, such as insulin which was more expansively capped at $35 under the Inflation Reduction Act. These insulin caps are especially significant to my family because both my parents have diabetes, and like many Americans, are burdened by the excessive pricing of insulin manufacturers. Harris also advocates for accelerating Medicare’s drug price negotiations, reducing costs even faster for millions of Americans in need of life-saving medication.
She plans to support the middle class
Harris’s economic policies intend to lift the middle class. She has pledged to support first-time homebuyers by providing up to $25,000 in down-payment assistance, allowing more than a million new buyers, including first-generation homebuyers, to access homeownership. Harris reiterates a commitment to small businesses, supporting tax deductions for startup expenses from $5,000 to $50,0000, and pledges one-third of federal contract dollars to small businesses, fostering entrepreneurship across the nation. These are just a few of Harris’s plans to help Americans across the country.
She’s fiscally responsible
Finally, Kamala Harris’s fiscal policies reflect a greater understanding of economic responsibility than her opponent. Central estimates from the Committee for Responsible Federal Budget, indicate that Harris’s proposals would increase the national debt by $3.5 trillion over the next decade, this number is far lower than the estimated $7.5 trillion increase expected under Trump’s platform. Harris’s approach balances the need for economic support with long-term fiscal sustainability, addressing urgent needs without overburdening future generations.
She supports women’s rights
Another important aspect of Harris’s platform is her unwavering stance on reproductive rights. Harris has pledged to work toward codifying Roe v. Wade, ensuring that access to abortion remains a federal right regardless of changing state laws. Her approach reflects her belief in reproductive autonomy as a fundamental right essential to gender equality, personal health, and economic independence for women.
Harris’s policy commitments and pragmatic approach to bipartisan governance make her an effective and inspiring choice for the future. Her initiatives focus on addressing immediate needs, championing inclusivity, and building a coalition-driven administration that hopes to foster unity and deliver results for all Americans.
