Southern Illinois University Edwardsville (SIUE) is included in the Wall Street Journal College (WSJ) Pulse Ranking 2025. The ranking rates the best colleges in the United States each year. This ranking is made through research by the Wall Street Journal, College Pulse, and Statista. This means that SIUE ranks in the top 500 universities in the country. Other schools honored are; Princeton, and Babson College, among others
Saint Louis University’s Sarah Adam won a silver medal at the 2024 Paralympic Games in Paris. The assistant professor of occupational science and occupational therapy was a first-time time olympian and an instrumental member of Team USA’s wheelchair rugby team.
Washington University’s Student Union Senate voted for a “Resolution to Drop the Suspensions and Ensure Student Safety.” The suspension of hundreds of the campus community members resulted from protests by students, faculty, and alumni, on April 27, 2024. They demanded that the university cut ties with Boeing. They were also in solidarity with the people of Palestine amid the war against Hamas.
Maryville University is celebrating the largest freshman class in its history. This is after a 20% increase making the class have more than 1000 students. The influx of students has brought campus housing close to capacity, prompting plans for new residence halls. The university ranks among the top 5 fastest-growing private universities in the U.S., marking 15 consecutive years of growth. This comes as colleges around the U.S., including in the St. Louis area are facing budget issues and closure.
