Emmanuel Jal speaks at Principia College

Peace activist Emmanuel Jal, a former Sudanese child soldier, gave a talk in Cox Auditorium February 11. Jal came to Principia as one of this year’s Ernie and Lucha Vogel Moral Courage speakers, and delivered his message of peace to an audience of students, faculty, and members of the community through speech and hip-hop performance. Jal described his transformative journey from anger and vengeance on behalf of his family and country to love for his fellow man.

In seventh heaven: Solar Car places in Australia

The Solar Car Team came in seventh place in the World Solar Challenge in Week 7, and they could not be happier.

The World Solar Challenge (WSC) is a division of the Global Green Challenge that consists of a race from Darwin, Northern Territory to Adelaide, South Australia. The course is 3,028 km (1,877.36 miles) through the Australian Outback, from the north coast to the south coast of the continent. The race started on the morning of Sunday, Oct. 25 at 8 a.m. and ended on Friday, Oct. 31. Thirty-two teams of innovative students and advisers from the most acclaimed engineering schools around the world traveled far for the ability to participate in the race.
