This winter break I went walking several times with my mom’s dogs down at an open-space dog park outside of Denver. One of them, Chamois, loves to play fetch with the tennis ball. We use one of those long plastic launchers because that ball gets slimy! Chamois is a very enthusiastic fetch player, which often works to her disadvantage. She will give me the ball, and tear off straight away in one direction. But she almost never looks back to see where I am going to throw the ball.

Sex, drugs, and alcohol – the bigger picture
Friday, November 13th, 2009From what I know about student life here, it seems that this quarter has seen a higher level of sex, drugs, and alcohol usage on our campus. Our priorities and Principia’s survival
Friday, May 15th, 2009I’ve heard that if one drops a frog into boiling water, he will immediately leap out and save himself. If the frog is sitting in lukewarm water that is slowly heated to boiling, however, he won’t notice and will slowly perish. Sometimes I wonder if the Christian Science movement and Principia are facing a similar situation. Principia’s enrollment peaked in 1981 at over 800 students. Currently we’re at 509 students with 50 more international students than we had in 1981. While we’ve had a good bump up from 480 students last Spring, overall we’re getting close to being half of what we were 28 years ago. Principia’s Admissions and Marketing are doing a great job reaching out to young Christian Scientists, but if there’s a declining number of them, what marketing can do is limited.
CS Perspective: the important work facing Principia
Friday, April 17th, 2009As Principians face challenges, working individually and collectively to understand where best to expend our efforts, it is comforting to turn to the guidance offered by those who came before us. Mary Kimball Morgan, the founder of this school, speaks in Education at The Principia with great clarity, humility, and power about her thought process in handling the various suggestions, difficulties, and opportunities that faced Principia.
Making Christian Science Your Own
Friday, November 7th, 2008In this piece we are going to explore the central importance of separating the human culture of thought we live in from our individual relationship with God. This will help each of us to call Christian Science our own without interference or doubt.
