Dear Pilot,
The 10-30-09 Pilot article “A new leaf for the Sheaf” reported “…a couple of things
went wrong in last year’s Sheaf.” Mentioned were half the Anderson House pictures missing and several photos being used twice. Talk about understatement.
How’s this for a couple more things gone WAY wrong: Forty-four percent of the senior class photos are missing!! Only 72 out of 129 seniors have their senior pictures included in the yearbook. Team pictures, for …

Soccer
The end of the season was not the expected nor the desired outcome for either team, but this fall, it has been truly fun to watch these two teams play. Do you ever grow tired of watching monotonous mainstream movies in gigantic megaplexes week after week? Have you felt the occasional impulse to watch a lesser-known independent film, even if only to impress friends with your knowledge of cinema? If so, then you should head downtown this weekend to attend the 18th annual Whitaker St. Louis International Film Festival (SLIFF).

Michael Jackson’s This Is It is a groundbreaking view into the makings of what would’ve been the King of Pop’s ambitious reintroduction into the limelight. Constructed from simple video footage documenting the vast preparation of what could have been Michael’s grand worldwide comeback, the documentary’s director/producer Kenny Ortega shows us an otherwise-unseen side of the King of Pop.

Some of the best meals I have ever had have come from local, quintessential “ticky-tacky” places. Delicious fare- the best hot dogs, good Chinese food, and even fried chicken- is tastier when the room fits only five people and the eclectic décor is from the 1970s. This theory holds true for the Thai Country Café in Loop. The walls are faux wood with pictures of waterfalls. Small Buddha statues, wicker baskets, and other knick-knacks are perched on the shelves lining the walls. These touches make the restaurant extra homey, welcoming you as you walk in off the street.
